Comprehension & Writing for Secondary (CWS) is a three-year supplementary series that enhances essential language and examination skills through a variety of contemporary texts.

With captivating texts and topics, CWS is a companion program for junior secondary students who aspire to excel in public examinations.

The curriculum is both modern and relevant, exposing students to a global context by utilizing materials ranging from conventional texts to online and social media content.

  • Assessment for Learning: Assists learners in understanding, tracking progress, and improving their skills through a set of tests, tools, and guidance at each stage of the learning journey.

​Course Details

CWS consists of three levels and is suitable for Secondary 1 to 3 students, with a focus on developing language and examination skills.

 

The topics and unit order have been carefully designed to complement what students are learning at school, with a particular emphasis on writing.

 

Global skills lessons in every unit provide students with invaluable strategies to become successful global citizens. Topics such as effective teamwork, problem-solving, cultural awareness, maintaining good health, and online safety offer opportunities for students to acquire critical skills for lifelong learning and success.


Mediation activities are designed to help students develop key language skills for conveying information clearly to others, including interpreting and summarizing.


Think and Share activities encourage students to think analytically, justify their answers, and challenge other opinions.
